Spaceballs: the T-shirt, Spaceballs: the Coloring Book, Spaceballs: the Lunch Box, Spaceballs: the Breakfast Cereal, Spaceballs: the Flame Thrower and, now, Spaceballs: The Comic-Con panel.

Yes, though the movie is still over nine months away, we now know that the long-awaited, highly anticipated sequel to 1987’s Spaceballs, Spaceballs: The New One, will have a panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con. Which is a huge deal not just because we all love Spaceballs and have been waiting almost 40 years for the sequel, but because most of the world has seen absolutely nothing from the film, and that’s about to change.

The official description of the panel, which takes place at 4 p.m. PST on July 24, is pretty vague. “The cast and filmmakers from the upcoming film Spaceballs: The New One offer a behind-the-Schwartz look at the sequel to the 1987 Mel Brooks cult classic. Between the reboots, legacy sequels, and cinematic universes competing for nostalgic attention this weekend, this is the one prepared to say exactly what it is doing. Buckle up. Ludicrous speed ahead.” What cast specifically? Will those filmmakers include creator Mel Brooks? We do not yet know.

But that’s par for the course for this film, since we don’t really know anything about what happens in the movie itself. MGM and Amazon debuted the first footage from the film for press and theater owners at CinemaCon in April (you can read about it here), and it seemed very much like the film was going to be using the structure of Star Wars: The Force Awakens to link the original characters with the new characters.

The original characters returning include those played by Rick Moranis, Mel Brooks, Daphne Zuniga, and Bill Pullman, while the new blood includes characters played by Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman, and Anthony Carrigan. Will all of them show up at Comic-Con? How much footage will they show? And, most importantly, will that footage make its way out of Hall H and into your eyeballs? We will definitely be there to let you know because this instantly became our most anticipated panel of Comic-Con 2026.

Spaceballs: The New One opens in theaters on April 23, 2027.
