Star Wars Episode IX
Strap yourself in, this is a wild one: rumors are swirling that Joss Whedon may be directing the final movie in the new Star Wars trilogy. The rumors spread following a Moviepilot post concerning a discussion on the latest Get Your Geek On Podcast, which allegedly “confirmed” Whedon as Episode IX’s director. This was debunked shortly after by people who had actually listened to the discussion on said podcast, in which the rumor of Whedon’s involvement in the franchise was made up — as a joke about how easily unfounded rumors could spread like wildfire.
However, the rumors gained ground once again when Making Star Wars — which has had a good track record regarding rumors surrounding The Force Awakens — claimed that there was more validity to the talk than previously thought. After asking around, EIC Jason Ward writes:
We were told “It is extremely possible”.
It feels like the rumors are getting going because the possibility exists. It is possible. It almost seems crazy to imagine they never had a meeting or haven’t had a meeting just to discuss the possibilities. Maybe that’s what happened here?
Most would agree that Disney doesn’t want to lose Whedon. Giving him some Star Wars is one way of keeping him in the fold. It would also allow him to work on another project before starting on Star Wars: Episode IX. But for what it is worth, I only heard his name for the second Anthology a few times as well [as a replacement for Josh Trank], within the last week and that seems a bit beneath him after doing both Avengers films.
Considering the origin of this rumor, it’s best to take this one with a ton of salt.
Marvel Cinematic Universe
In a recent Q&A with r/marvelstudios on Reddit, Kevin Feige vehemently denied that Quicksilver could return any time soon:
Quiksilver is DEAD. 100%, he’s not coming back any time soon, there are no plans. No LMD, no escaping bullets, no retcon. K said he is dead and wanted to make sure people understood that.

There are no active plans for the One-shots to return, unfortunately. If something good comes up, they’ll do it, but for now, no.
Post Infinity War Part 2: Characters will continue, unknown if they will continue in the MCU with current actors, absolutely nothing set in stone.
There is no dark turn in the MCU. He says every year fans come up to him and ask him if this movie is when the MCU goes “dark” or takes a “dark” turn. He said while the trailers may seem ominous or have a sense of impending doom, the movies do not have that feel, and will not. He said he “Hoped people would catch on by now” - there will be no giant dark turns in the MCU where it then continues to head in that direction. The humor is in the DNA of the movies, there are no plans to change that.
Avengers: Infinity War
Both movies will be entirely shot with IMAX cameras, making them the first movies to ever do so. [First Showing]

Henry Hobson discusses the unconventional setup of the film:
Spinoff: This is an unusual take on the zombie genre. Do you consider “Maggie” a horror movie?
Henry Hobson: No. I mean it’s probably closer to something like “Days of Heaven” than it is “28 Days Later.” There’s a degree to which [it’s more like] “Ordinary People.” It’s much more about the drama, so that’s what makes it more unusual. I think we’re starting to see — whether it’s with television, like “The Walking Dead,” “In the Flesh,” “The Returned,” or even comedically with “Life After Beth” and “The Last of Us,” we’re seeing more of an audience acceptance of “Yeah, use the zombie thing but tell me a story that’s about a family. Or tell me a story that I can see parts of myself in, parts of my own life in.”

Variety is reporting that Natalie Portman is in early talks to join the film, which “follows a biologist who signs up for a dangerous, secret expedition where the laws of nature don’t apply”.
Wolverine 3
Despite previously claiming he’d play the role until he died, Hugh Jackman says that Wolverine 3 will be his last movie as the hero:
It is my last time. It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it.
I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.

Agents Of SHIELD
It’s time for the final poster reveal and interview for Entertainment Weekly of the season. Jeff Bell sets up the culmination of Skye’s character arc in “S.O.S”:
I would say that Skye’s journey has been a big arc of this season, and I think we’re laying some sort of sense of resolution. If you’re reading this season as a book, yes, there’s going to be a sequel to this book. But there are certain aspects you’d want closed in this book. And I know if I were reading that book, that’s one of the storylines I’d want to see closure on.
DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow
After weeks of speculation, the Arrow/Flash spinoff’s title has been revealed as DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. The CW has picked up the show straight to series, releasing a new description as part of the announcement:
