Call-Dropping Motorola RAZRs

“This just confirms what I’ve always suspected. All the new phones are getting pretty good at a lot of new tricks – taking pictures, playing MP3s, web surfing, etc. What they’re not good at is what they were made for in the first place – making a goddamn phone call.”

CeBIT 2006: State of the Union

“I used to teach Web Design courses for adults and had to spend the first 1/2 explaining that good design = good function. It isn’t a pretty painted shell with fat curves at the edges, it’s the art of combining form and function seamlessly. Yes, electronics have been slow to conform to human needs and desires. No, innovation does not equate to industrial design exercises…that is, unless the industrial design in question results in something easy to understand, easy to use, and compelling enough to alter your life to accomodate…that, in a nutshell, is what equates “good design”.”

CeBIT 06: Asus Leather Laptops

“Are we entering a new era in design where the guts of a laptop matter much less than the look and feel?

CeBIT 06: Hands-On Video of the Asus R2H

“I think it’s a fake.. the cornerpinning jumps inward by one pixel on frame number 1513 and the reflection of the overhead lighting doesn’t reflect properly.

I do like the carkeys-based touchscreen tho…”

Rumors: Origami Just a Glorified Media Player with Nasty DRM?

“I think in abbreviating DRM, we often don’t think of what it stands for. It stands for Digital Rights Management, as in, someone else managing our digital rights for us, ie, telling us what we can and can’t do with out digital content.

It’s not just microsoft. In fact, they’re done a lot (whether they meant to or not) in breaking down many other’s companies DRM, and letting us lead a life free of other people telling us what devices we can and can’t listen to our music on. But now ,even they are joining in on this evil.

As the people educated and in the know of the evils and dangers of this, we need to stand together and fight this. Refuse next generation DVD, both Blu-ray and HD-DVD, and HDMI, refuse CD’s with DRM, refuse movies with it, don’t like itunes tell you what device you can listen to music on, and make sure as much as you own is free of this garbage.

Only by standing together can we fight this great assault upon our consumer rights.”
