These High-End Office Chairs Are Your-Butt-Thanks-You Deal of the Day

If sitting is the new smoking — that is, it makes you look cool and significantly shortens your life expectancy — then we, as sitting addicts, should choose our brand. People even moderately acquainted with high-end office chairs know about the Herman Miller Aeron, but Steelcase also makes a few premium thrones. In particular, the Steelcase Leap is a widely acclaimed chair. It's a Wirecutter favorite; here's Kyle VanHemert's take:

In terms of butt tests, the Leap performed extremely well in both the short- and long-term varieties. For one thing, as far as high-end task chairs go, it's got a relatively cushy foam seat. That might seem like a "no duh" type of thing for an $800 chair, but actually it isn't... Compared to the other chairs I tested–not to mention the crazier models out there with saddle-style seats and rocking horse legs and all the rest–the Leap is a very ordinary chair. It isn't going to hit you over the head with its materials or its design. It's understated. It just does its thing, and it does it very well.

Normally stories about high-end chairs include a fact about how many hours you spend sitting as a way to justify the price of a chair that rivals new laptops. But if you're a heavy sitter, you already know that. If you sit for work or pleasure, you feel it in your legs, in your lower back, you feel it in your butt. You know you're looking for a more comfortable sit. Today, there's a great sale on Steelcase chairs. Steelcase is running its semi-annual sale, which means 15% off all Steelcase chairs, but the best price for a Leap is over at SmartFurniture, which has the Leap for $653. That's $102 less than Amazon and $350 less than the MSRP. [SmartFurniture]

Of course, choosing the right chair is a personal decision — like buying boots or mattresses — and there are sales on other Steelcase chairs (like the Amia or Think) if you're looking for something less expensive or more specific. Steelcase has a wider selection, but Smart Furniture has knocked 15% off as well and has better prices across the board. [Steelcase | Smart Furniture via Wirecutter Deals]

In our console-less, Steam-boxed future, there's going to be a lot more emphasis placed on the controller you use. This controller could still be your controller in five years. Fighting game fans have long been fans of Sanwa Denshi arcade joysticks and buttons and this Mad Catz includes eight of them. There's a PS3 or Xbox version, but both work with PC and Steam. If you can deal with Street Fighter graphics, it's a steal at $100. [Amazon]

Never Spend More Than $130 for a Jawbone Jambox

The Jawbone Jambox — the little Bluetooth speaker that could — has been on a pricing rollercoaster. We featured Amazon selling it for $130 as the deal of the day back in December, but after Christmas it went back up to $155. Recently, we've seen refurbished Jamboxes go as low as $78. Well, if you're looking for a new one, Amazon has them back down to $130. This means if you're in the market for a little Jambox, you're getting a bad price if you pay more than $130—even if this deal goes away for a little while, it'll come back, and we'll let you know about it. Sonos Audio is pretty expensive, but it's so sweet when it's set up. The Sonos 3 is a great starting point, because it's got the lowest price for any Sonos speaker. Today, from Target, you buy one and they'll throw in a $50 gift card. Not the hottest sale of all time, but a real solid discount on speakers that rarely go on sale. [Target]

Yup, Mists of Pandaria is down to $20, four and a half months after it came out. That's a pretty good price, although judging from previous World of Warcraft expansions, it might just be the new normal price. Also: the WoW Battle Chest is a straight $5 over at Best Buy. [Amazon]
