Lego artist Mike Doyle spent over 600 painstaking hours (and 200,000 bricks) constructing this insanely well-detailed sci-fi magnum opus. It's like a galactic fantasy mash-up of Flash Gordon's planet Mongo and Minas Tirith from Lord of the Rings. The build measures 5 feet high by 6 feet wide.
This epic metropolis, named Odan, is described as “celebrating spirituality, peaceful ET contact and fantastical worlds.” Doyle wants you to imagine a world where humans have evolved beyond our planet and amalgamate with other galactic peoples, sharing knowledge, architecture and culture. This build is meant to exemplify that philosophy with its classical, futuristic and alien design.
You can read more at Doyle's Kickstarter campaign, where he's offering backers DIY instructions for various set pieces and limited edition prints. What’s so great about the DIY instructions is that he’s basically giving you a small slice of his galactic imagination and you can use that to make your very own unique extraterrestrial world. You may recall this artist's previous creation, this incredible Victorian house. [via Colossal]
