What happens when you blow up a balloon, fill it with corn starch, and photograph it when it pops? Apparently, you make a powderflower. And it looks amazing.
You gotta love a little artistic physics. If you want to see what goes on, in terms of air currents, when you pop a balloon, check out this stunning picture. The interior of the balloon was covered with corn starch, which makes a kind of ruffled cloud when the balloon is punctured. Inside the cloud, you can see the shriveling rubber of the balloon.
Through the center of the cloud, you can see a line released where the rubber of the balloon split. The rest is ruffled and scalloped, as the air from inside the balloon interacts with the outside world. I wish I could see a whole series of these, just to see how the dust settles.
