Time-Warner is introducing a high-definition version of its cable box/digital video recorder. At least in Green Bay, Wisconsin, that is, where they appear to be testing the Explorer 8000HD from Scientific Atlanta before they roll it out nationwide. The press release for this announcement is curiously bereft of details, like how many hours of high-definition programming the Explorer 8000HD can record. We’re guessing not many.
UPDATE: We just heard back from Scientific Atlanta about this. The 8000HD has a 160GB hard drive and can store up to 16 hours of HD TV and up to 100 hours of standard definition TV.
