In Guillermo del Toro's upcoming gothic ghost story Crimson Peak, Tom Hiddleston plays the mysterious husband of a young author, played by Mia Wasikowska. But as dapper as Hiddleston looks in his 19th-century costume, the real star of these official images is his character's manor.
Torrilla posted these scans from Empire Magazine's preview of Crimson Peak, which includes a new synopsis for the film, which also stars Jessica Chastain and Charlie Hunnam:
A young woman (Wasikowska) is swept off by her feet by a charismatic suitor (Hiddleston) and taken back to his ancestral home. There she finds more than she bargained for, including a jealous sister (Chastain) and more than a few skeletons in the closet.
It's not surprise that the house already looks like its own character in these stills. When we visited the set this past spring, del Toro told us that the decaying mansion is almost like an organism in the movie — and apparently things only get stranger the farther upstairs you go. And we saw plenty of its crumbling personality in the footage that screened during San Diego Comic-Con.
Crimson Peak hits theaters October 16, 2015. We're looking forward to this one.
