Uh, DC just randomly killed the hell out of a major character

SPOILERS, PEOPLE. SPOILERS FOR THIS WEEK’S COMICS, WHICH JUST CAME OUT TODAY. Spoilers for Justice League of America #4, specifically, if you’re trying to gauge how much this spoiler-ness affects you personally. If you’re cool, here’s who bit the big one in the New 52:

Catwoman, at behest of the JLA, was trying to infiltrate the Secret Society of Evil, posing as a villain (which is admittedly easy for her to do). Doctor Ivo was having none of it, clearly.

I suppose there’s a comic book-y way to get of out this next issue, but for the moment, holy shit it looks like she’s been shot right through the brain.

I don’t want to get into a big thing on gender equality in comics, and how while male and female comic characters die at a reasonable rate given that most comics characters are male, the men get big long drawn out battle scenes with noble deaths immediately after defeating their foes and women tend to get murdered in three panels, or even off-panel (perhaps showing up later in a refrigerator, to pick a completely random example) with almost certainly no narrative benefit other than shock value.

I don’t want to get into it, because I’m just about to clock out. I think everyone else should, though.
