Just after Apple eased restrictions on app development, Epic Games has announced that the Unreal Development Kit, that which produced the mouthwatering Epic Citadel demo, will be made available to developers for use in iOS apps. UDK will “eventually,” be available for Android, said the studio VP, “but iOS is the priority for now.” The first game to use Unreal Engine 3 will be Project Sword, which was demoed on stage at Apple’s recent event.

Epic also announced that the Epic Citadel demo, in which you do little else than run around a beautiful castle, has been downloaded 1 million times. That’s a lot of tiny little epic castles! [Gamasutra]
