Verizon Has Quietly Killed Its Embattled Tech News Site

A few months ago, Verizon set up a silly-sounding but innocuous-looking tech news site called SugarString. Then its editor said the site would not cover net neutrality and government surveillance, hot button issues that could impugn Verizon. DSL Reports notes today that the SugarString is no longer online.

Verizon confirmed in an email to DSL Reports that they’ve decided to shut down the website, which the tech company characterized as a “pilot program” of their marketing department. Goodbye SugarString, and good riddance, especially with that name. [DSL Reports]
