A new connected set-top box with an Ethernet port from VIA Technologies and Video Without Boundaries. The MediaReady 4000 can stream MP3 audio and MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and MPEG-4 viles files from a PC over a home network, play CDs and DVDs, watch TV, access the Internet, and, of course, double as a karaoke player. VIA and Video Without Boundaries don’t plan to build or market the device themselves — they’re hoping to license the design to other manufacturers.
