The expected deluge of people trying to switch cellphone carriers yesterday actually turned out to be more of a trickle. Rather the actual number of subscribers that tried to change carriers on the first day of number portability fell short of the “millions and millions” that had been predicted. Which makes perfect sense. Most people wisely realized that it’s best to wait a few weeks and make sure all the bugs have been worked out of the process of transferring a number to a new provider.
