The Vision was by far the most secretive part of Avengers: Age of Ultron as we led up to its release. But now that he’s out there and we know where he fits in, Marvel is finally opening up about the creation of the character. A new video even equates him to a delicious summer beverage: the gin and tonic.
In a new featurette, Paul Bettany—who provided the voice of Jarvis in multiple Marvel movies before finally showing his face in Age of Ultron—reveals the process he went through to become Vision. Lots of make-up, prosthetics, and then a huge suit that needed to be cooled with flowing ice water. “It’s a little like being inside a gin and tonic,” the actor jokes.
It’s also worth noting, if you wonder how movie productions can get so expensive, that they had to mechanically pump freaking ice water through his freaking suit to keep him cool! We could all use that kind of technology during the summer months, am I right? Surely, that kind of thing doesn’t come cheap.
Anyway, it’s a funny video, of which there are sure to be more when Avengers: Age of Ultron hits Blu-ray on October 2.
