Watch Red Hot Steel Face Off Against a Frozen Lake

The people at the Hydraulic Press Channel on YouTube have run out of stuff to smash into oblivion, so on their side channel, Beyond the Press, they’ve decided to just start dumping garbage into lakes.

In its latest video, the team decided to dump a 20 kilogram (about 44 lbs) cylinder of piping hot steel into a frozen lake with one foot of solid ice on its surface. We’re not going to lie: the results are surprisingly compelling. The heat from the steel warms the water on the surface, which causes a larger hole to appear in the lake.

So does the steel break through the ice and make it to the bottom of the lake? You’ll just have to watch to find out.
