January is usually a dark time for new movies, but one movie hopes to brighten all that up in 2018: Mary and the Witch’s Flower.
The first film from the new animation studio Studio Ponoc, and helmed by former Studio Ghibli director Hiromasa Yonebayashi, Mary and the Witch’s Flower is the story of a bored girl living in the country who stumbles upon a magic flower. The flower gives her incredible abilities and sends her off to a whole new world, one where magic is appreciated and taught. Here’s the new English language trailer, featuring the voices of Kate Winslet and Jim Broadbent:
