If you thought lumberjack would be one of the last jobs to be replaced by robots and automated machinery, you’ll want to replan your future after watching this tree-climbing, chainsaw-wielding contraption shimmy up a trunk while slicing off every single branch in its path.


Trimming off all of the branches ahead of time makes it easier to fell a tree because there’s less risk of it getting tangled in other ones as it falls. It also means that once it’s on the ground, it can immediately be sliced into more manageable chunks for easier transport out of a forest. But as the Instagram account that posted the video, Hand Tool Rescue, asks, “How does it know when to stop?”
