What are the best geeky hangouts in your hometown?

Illustration for article titled What are the best geeky hangouts in your hometown?

Every town has one. It's the place where the nerds and outcasts are welcome. You feel safe there discussing the molecular composition of a pop tart before eating it. It's a spot visited by people want to build worlds, and play in them. Or who want to swap books. Tell us about the best geeky hangouts in your town or city!

Let us know where to find our fellow geeks in your hometown. And if there isn't a place like that, maybe you can nominate one and create your town's first nerd sanctuary. Post pictures and links in the comments, so that people can find these spots. The idea is to create a master list, so that matter where we go in the world, we can always find a friendly nerd or three. Or just a three-headed nerd. That would be OK too.

Melbourne, Australia: Embiggen Books

I just visited Melbourne and this bookstore is full of a terrific mix of science, futurism and even science fiction books. Plus they host a ton of great events for people interested in science and SF, including writing groups and pretty amazing guest authors. All hail Embiggen! If you live in the Melbourne area and haven't visited, you must go now!

Here's the website, with directions: http://www.embiggenbooks.com/
