Plastic. Lumpy. Windows. Buttons. More buttons...handles? Yup, this is what tablets looked like before the iPad came out. After the iPad? Well, um, it's been a lot different.

It's definitely reminiscent of how Android phones looked more like Blackberry before the iPhone, but I've got to say I sorta wish some tablet makers veered off the black slate path. No, not by re-living the inglorious past (because they look god awful) but because I selfishly want to play with something different.


For the record though, it looks like most other non-iPad tablets have maintained a landscape-is-preferred-type form factor just like the fug tablets of yore. [@ReiVersuri via Daring Fireball]
