White House Cockblocks Kerry-Supporting Telecom Execs from Conference

Time is reporting that the Bush Administration blocked representatives from Nokia and Qualcomm, among others, from attending the Inter-American Telecommunication Commission meetings because the representatives had donated money to the Kerry presidential campaign. White House spokesman Trent Duffy says:

“We wanted people who would represent the Administration positively, and—call us nutty—it seemed like those who wanted to kick this Administration out of town last November would have some difficulty doing that.”

Nokia responds:

“We do not view sending experts to international meetings on telecom issues to be a partisan matter. We would welcome clarification from the White House.”

(Thanks, Nathan!)
