Nathan Edmondson’s spy-fi graphic novel Who Is Jake Ellis? has been in line for a movie adaptation for awhile. Now, the film—simply titled Jake Ellis—has a new director, Josh Mond, whose previous film, James White, is also about a man whose life is in turmoil … but without the remote-viewing subplot.

As Deadline reports:

This pic will center on Silas, who has his life turned upside down when the voice in his head, Jake Ellis, turns out to be a secret human-experimentation operation. Silas must learn to listen to the voice to save himself, but also to figure out how he became involved in this mission and how to get the voice out.

Back in 2013, The Legend of Tarzan’s David Yates was attached to direct the film, then described as being a noirish mix of “Bourne, Memento, and Fight Club.” With up-and-comer Mond’s involvement, a new script will be penned by an as-yet-unnamed writer.
