Windows Phone 7 DRM Blown Apart

Devious devs have punched a hole in Microsoft’s WP7 marketplace DRM, allowing for the free installation of paid apps.

The technique is currently just in proof of concept form, as illustrated in the video above—but a public release would mean an app piracy bonanza, if only a brief one. WPCentral says Microsoft is aware of the hole—so it’ll be interesting to see whether exploitative software or a patch hits devices first. [WPCentral via BGR]
