Windows Phone Just Got Instagram (Sort Of) and Vine (Really)

So hidden in Nokia’s announcement of some new apps for its Lumia line was a little announcement about Hipstamatic. It’s making a lens app for Nokia, and it can share your photos to other social networks. Including Instagram. So, essentially, Windows Phone just got its first real Instagram app.

The bad news is that the Hipstamatic app will for now be exclusive to the Lumia 1020. Let us be clear, that is HUGELY AND INCREDIBLY STUPID. Nokia has an awesome app, and it’s not even making sure it’s on its older (not that old) phones. Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb. Dumb. That is dumb.

Nokia does have a good record of bringing its apps to the wider Lumia and Windows Phone audience, though, so hopefully it doesn’t stay that way.

BUT HEY. You can upload images to Instagram from a Windows Phone now. And once (“if”, but probably) it comes to other Windows Phones, you’ll finally be able to do more than view your Instagram streams with an official app, and not one cobbled together that may or may not (and often not) work.

Update: According to Microsoft, a Vine app will be coming shortly as well for all of Windows Phone. Happy sharing!
