At this point you’ve probably heard about Speedpass and other payment systems which let you pay for things wirelessly using miniature radio frequency transponder built into watches and cellphones. Well, taking things a step further, Applied Digital Solutions just announced VeriPay. Rather than go to all the hassle of actually carrying something around, with VeriPay you have an RFID tag injected underneath your skin so you can quite literally pay for things with a mere wave of your hand, foot, mouth, or whatever body part it is you decide to have your new wireless wallet reside. Unfortunately for Applied Digital Solutions, this is never, ever going to catch on. Sure you’d never need to worry about ever losing your wallet, but there is no way we’re going to let our bank or Mastercard or whoever it would be inject some radio tagging device into our body. Unless maybe we got really good bonus miles with every purchase. Maybe not even then.
