After that fantastic teaser trailer, we’ve been patiently waiting for something, anything, in the way of information for the upcoming live-action musical version of Disney’ Beauty and the Beast. We finally have it.

The first art from the film has been revealed and it gives us an early look at two of the primary non-human characters, the candlestick Lumière (played by Ewan McGregor) and his proper sidekick, the clock Cogsworth (played by Ian McKellen).

According to the Facebook of producer Jack Morrissey, this image is actually concept art though. “These designs are close but may not be final,” he writes. Even so, this image immediately conveys what the film’s director, Bill Condon, is going for with this remake: reality, but with a lush fantastic look.

The image originates from a sneak peak feature on the upcoming Blu-ray re-release of the animated film. On it, there’s also a B-roll image from the song “Gaston,” performed by Gaston himself, Luke Evans, and LeFou, played by Josh Gad.

Again, you get the richness of the setting here. It looks even better than you’d expect a live-action version of this classic film to look. Now, we wait on an answer to the biggest question: What will Dan Stevens look like as the Beast?

Update: We sort of now know. Another photo has leaked, also from B-roll.

Beauty and the Beast, which also stars Emma Watson, Kevin Kline, Emma Thompson and many others, opens March 17.
