Google’s marching onwards with giving Android, and all its associated Google apps, a fresh lick of Material Design-colored paint. This weekend, it’s the turn of the YouTube app to get the rolling-pin treatment.

Aside from the new (and very red) design you see up top, there’s not much changed in terms of functionality. A few menu options have been tweaked, but mostly, it’s all about the application of Material Design to the app. As you’d guess, YouTube was given red as its overriding color for the homepage. One neat feature, however, is that the app pulls colors from individual channels, so that channel pages are different colors.

The update is slowly making its way out across the Play Store, but if you’re too impatient to wait, you can directly download the app and sideload. Otherwise, waiting a few days for auto-update to work its magic should do the trick. [Google Play]
