Following up Apple's same-day DVD release purchasing announcement, they've added a feature to buy movies directly on Apple TV without the need for a computer. Before this, you could only rent on your Apple TV and have to buy movies on your computer first, then stream it. [MacRumors]

Should that have been a day one feature.
Just saying
Now
FLAME ON!
@One2ManyCords: Shouldn't
Very nice indeed. I read most of the majors are on board.
One step closer to not being a waste of money.
I notice a lot of releases are coming out in iTunes that are only available for purchase. Sucks. I don't want to buy There Will Be Blood, but I want to see it. Humbug I says. Humbug!
@Xenocide:Almost, i already have an xbox
@Kaiser-Machead:
Dude there will be blood is totally worth buying.
Now they just need to either:
1) Earmark the movies (things) you buy so u can re-download them for free
2)@ least give us a time machine backup option..
DeCSS + cheap storage + XBMC = No reason to get an AppleTV.
@genius74: I agree about the earmarking stuff. I think Apple needs to take a page out of Microsoft's playbook on Zune Marketplace, which allows for a limited amount of redownloads of your library.
try buying it on your computer then playing it on your apple tv. Good luck. That doesnt work on my apple tv now. And dont start a movie for 1 sec it will time out in one day. Even if by accident. They need to address those issues.

yah another great day for Apple fanboys
Seriously, why didn't they have this feature before? I would normally have to buy from itunes on my laptop, watch it backup over time machine, then sync it to my apple tv. This is ridiculous. I am looking forward to being able to purchase HD content not just rent.
They now mix the rentals in with the to-purchase movies, which blows. There should be two completely separate pages, or at least an icon that says "Rent or Buy" or "Buy Only" beneath it. I won't be buying movies through Apple until they're available in HD, and even then I won't want to check 20 New Releases only to find 2 are rentable and the other 18 can only be purchased, and in regular def.
