Jesus may think that Iron Man is the best superhero movie ever, but those of us who don't go ga-ga for goatees know better. This latest Dark Knight trailer shows exactly why Batman's second adventure (yes, second, since those first few movies don't count) will be the best superhero movie this summer. Hell, it might even be the best movie period this summer.
This rendition of The Joker needs to get some kind of award for Ledger for being the best villain in recent memory. The Joker doesn't need gadgets to kill Batman. He relies on pure insanity. The new suit, on the other hand, seems even more souped up and gadgety than the first. We'll have to wait for the movie to see what crazy ass stuff they shoved in. [Why So Serious]

I'm sorry, Batman couldn't lick Iron Man's pelvic armor. Downey Jr. fits his charactor far better than this movie.
First!
This is gonna be a great movie... Think Ledger might outdo Jack as the Joker... What's gonna happen when Hollywood runs out of superheroes and TV shows to make movies out of?
I havent seen Iron Man yet, but i would be willing to say it will be better than this
Thank GOD they got rid of Katie Holmes...oh wait, they replaced her with Maggie Gyllenhaal?
What happened to the days of Kim Bass-in-Ger.....
SHA-WING.
@Lester56: totally agree!
Are you kidding me? No one, and I mean no one, beats Wonder Twins.

I think that The Joker will not be the main bad guy; I think we've seen so much of him that he'll be like the terrorists at the beginning of iron Man (easily defeated and not the real target) and Harvey Dent will be slowly becoming two face until he's the main bad guy at the end.
I love Batman, but it better be amazing for its whopping 3 hour running time.
@NYCRockStar:
Blasphemy! Jack Nicholson's Joker will never be outdone. And judging from this preview, where Ledger's interpretation doesn't even crack a smile, I'm going to say it won't even be close.
Hollywood already answered your question: Remake them again and again and again.
I have to agree, Joker in this movie is by far one of the best looking villains ever, this movie will be a bigger hit then Ironman.
saw this during the ironman preview. it looks damn good. i'm not going to say which is best, but i'm just going to be grateful that there's two kick-ass superhero movies this year - ironman and dark knight.
batman rocks...! this will defntly be THE movie of the summer.
@DeCerbo: Hellboy 2 this year also.
Was Tammy Faye Baker the makeup artist for the Joker? I'm seeing some real similarities.
People who love Burton's Batman films should be neutered.
Sorry - as much as I'm looking forward to seeing Iron Man, I still believe Dark Knight will kick it's tin ass in the theatres.
What's great about Batman is that he is vulnerable. He goes in with black kevlar and a utility belt - and NO GUNS and still kicks ass. It's one reason why Superman doesn't do anything for me - unless you happen upon a piece of kryptonite - he's invincible.
Batman is the shiznit and the best franchise around. Sorry - you can't deny this.
Batman is the greatest Super Hero. Iron man doesn't come that close...
Wait, I always liked Cesar Romero as the Joker. Nicholson was next as "film" joker.
Can't please everyone, but atleast I feel this Joker (late Ledger) will do the justice to Joker part as B. Lee did for The Crow (RIP Brandon).
What better way to be eulogized than on the big screen?
Iron who? This movie is going to rock.
i'm just glad the preview in no way whatsoever foreshadows anything bad happening to the new DA.
maybe preview #3 can just be a quick montage of the 3 or 4 scenes NOT included so for in previews.
@Lester56:
What?!? Iron Man has always been a 2nd tier superhero compared to Batman.
It looks like it has potential, but it'll be nearly impossible to top Jack's take on the Joker.

@Lester56: I agree, Iron Man > Batman. But it'll probably still be a good movie.
Is it a crime to have more than one Best Superhero Movie around. The more the merrier.
@pomophobe: folks that generalize like that should be labotomized and fed that piece of brain they obviously never really used.
Wha? Why the hate for Tim Burton?? The guy totally captures Batman's grim brooding angst. And let's not forget the mind-blowing Danny Elfman score. And the awesome production design. And the Batmobile rocked.
I bet you mean Joel Schumacher instead. Fuck that guy.
Something I noticed is that the batman movie seams to be setting up Harvey Dent for a later movie, showing Harvey in this movie, so that when he does fall, when he becomes two face, we have a sympathy with him. His fall will mean more because we will have more of an idea of who the man was before he fell. It allows the Two Face story to be longer than a single movie, since you don't need to do as much "intro back story" if you assume that people have seen the previous movies.
I noticed that the Iron Man movie is doing the same sort of thing, setting things up for later movies, not exactly setting up a sequel, but setting up story lines that span multiple movies. Older movies did not do that, since you were not guaranteed a second movie, it all came down to the response to the first ones. I am glad to see that the super hero movies have confidant backers who are willing to gamble on a movie series, instead of one movie at a time.
I think the title should have been "New Dark Knight Trailer Shows Why The Joker Is the Best Super Villain ever.(Batman ain't bad either)
I'm sorry but Iron Man could kick Batmans ass any day of the week. Plus who would you want to hang out with, Emo Batman or Party like a rock star Iron Man? I rest my case.
The only oldBbatmans that count are the Micheal Keaton ones, he did a good job, plus come on Danny Devito as the Penguin? you can't get any better then that.

This is the Trailer they showed before Iron man, I'm not gonna lie this movie does look awesome but in general batman is not even a superhero. He is a rich snob with a huge trust fund and a grudge against "bad guys"
@bms: WOOT wonder twins powers ACTIVATE!!!

@Jonathan21: Emo Batman? Dude, Bruce Wayne is a playboy billionaire.
And Batman has proven to pwn superheros with much greater power than his own.
Batman = GOAT
I've never read a single Iron man comic. The whole premise just struck me as Marvel's answer to DC's batman. Take some young rich playboy, throw in some personal tragedy, have him build some sort of amazing device(s) and let him fight crime. Out side of Pepper Potts being a much better choice of assistant than Alfred, I can't get too excited about Iron Man.
I did see the Iron man movie and it was okay. I think it was too over the top with the technology. Yeah, I know, it's make believe, but Batman seems to do okay without holographic 3D projectors and sentient robotic helpers. The tech of Batman is at least 'plausible'.
My only wish (that has already not come true) is that they leave the costume alone. One of the biggest things that bothered me with the previous franchise is they kept trying to 'one up' the suit. The Tim Burton batman suit of the 89 film was excellent. The Batman begins suit was also very, very good (with a good backstory too). I see they're already trying to make it more like an exoskeleton with visible technology and that drives me up the wall. I don't want nipples on my Batman suit.
@Lester56: Um, one Bat-EMP and Stark is toast. Instant heart attack.
@superbryant88: Can't the same be said about the Iron Man? Except for the reactor he is an everyday normal rich guy that likes to drink.
I would say thats the reason why Batman is so popular. He doesn't use super powers, just money and brains to fuel his kick.
@davezatz: Sorry Dave, I think Ledger will the be the second best Joker ever next to Mark Hamill. I mean, he literally drove himself insane in a hotel room in total isolation for a month.
The Dark Knight looks awesome...but Maggie Gyllenhaal??? ugh....any Batman-induced erection goes out the door with one look at her face....uggh
I worked in Chitown in the NBC tower when they were filming this. They parked that Lambo outside our building a lot with what looked like an army guarding it. If you really wanted to find out where and when they were filming you could. The Lower Wacker Drive scenes were pretty damned cool to snoop and see.
Looks like Heath Ledger kicks ass here (from the 2nd or so of actual acting they show here). RIP you poor bastard, RIP.
I think the thing people don't understand about the Joker is his absolute insanity. Sure he is called the Joker but what most have seen in the movies is all they know of the "Joker" character, a wise cracking laughing stock villain with some flashy clothes and a hatred for Batman. Read the comics to know just how sick and twisted and violent he really is. Sure, Nicholson did a great job, but at no point did he actually cause me to be afraid. People should fear the joker. His level of fear mongering should be equivalent to painting a smile on a nuclear warhead.
The only reason they pushing the whole harvey dent angle is because Heath Ledger passed away.
Before his death, everyone was praising his work, and his performance and how central he was to the story.
Afterwards, there was much backtracking: "Oh, the movie's not about the joker, as much as it is umm... uuhhh.... TOMMY LEE JONE- I mean, Harvey Dent!!! Yeah!! But, Tommy Lee Jones isn't doing it... uh... someone else is... ummm..."
I'm sure that Harvey Dent was supposed to be in the Dark Knight, but not nearly in the big role that the previews now are putting him in.
@pomophobe: Burton's Batman films are the best, sorry, you're wrong.
@jibbly: Batman only beats other superheroes because it's written that way. Honestly, he's one of the most overrated superheroes ever.
Maggie Gyllenhaal is hot. You haters are ridiculous.
@davezatz: are you kidding me? Nicholson's Joker was just Nicholson after doing a bunch of coke - the "real" Joker is supposed to be psychotic and scary!
Saw Iron Man yesterday. Great Special Effects. Very little story.
@diverguy: Iron Man is actually a man that holds a real job and built his wealth for himself, not sponging off his daddy's money.
@Jonathan21: Could not agree more - its not about which Superhero is best, its who has the most fun. Batman's world is completely different from Iron Man's world - either case Iron Man rules...
the only disappointment of the movie is Aaron Eckhart. The guy is a horrible actor and you can see in the preview they are setting him up for his two-face role. come on.
