Aw. I was hoping to be able to test drive the Badonkadonk Land Cruiser/Tank in person, and make sure there really are 128 fluid ounces of Tuscan Whole Milk in a gallon.
Amazon.co.uk used to have very quick delivery and as such it was very useful (for me). However, a few months ago, they canceled a long-term parcel delivery contract with the Royal Mail. As a result, their delivery is now much slower -I recently bought a gift for someone and it took 6 days to arrive (it used to take 1 or 2 days.)
Argos = Amazon "walk-in store" ?
(I posted this comment three weeks ago - stupid new couriers)
While in the past it's made sense for traditionally physical retailers to expand into the on line market I don't think the reverse has ever been true. In terms of cost it's just not worth it. While I wouldn't lay them to rest yet brick and mortar stores for certain products are a shrinking market. While stuff like groceries, clothes to an extent will likely always remain as physical stores. Places specialising in electronics, games and other specialist/luxury/non-essential goods are rapidly becoming irrelevant due to their online counterparts.
Games retailers especially. I look in them now and again but trying to find a good deal in most of them is like finding a needle in a haystack. Even used games aren't even worth looking at as you can find the same titles for cheaper online, and that's brand new as well.
I recently had a "night out on the town" and thought my BlackBerry had been nicked from my bag in the coat check room, and went mental on them the next day when I realised.
Turns out, yep, I left it in the cab. Luckily I was reunited with it, but it was still very embarrassing.
On the upside - "Four in five of the London cabbies quizzed said that owners of gear lost in taxis were reunited with their kit once they had found kit at the back of their vehicle."
"It used to be small items like brollies and briefcases..."
"brollies" = umbrellas (Is this word used outside of the UK?)
I left my phone in a sushi bar in Birmingham a while back and didn't realise until I was on the train back home. Luckily I managed to borrow a phone, call home and get my mum to ring it and ask them to keep it there so I could get my friend to pick it up the next day. Said friend had left his phone in a taxi before and we had to trek to a police station in the middle of no where to retrieve it only to find out they'd closed their lost and found for the weekend.
In-car satellite TV never made sense - why waste $1300 and $20-30 a month on something you ever only use at most 30-40 minutes a day - and then only on maybe one or two days a month?
The driver doesn't benefit from the system - they can't watch the TV either way and there's no programming FOR adults (it's all cartoons - and crappy ones at that).
Only way in-vehicle satellite TV works is if you're going cross-country in an RV. And then I'd just stick with a prepaid DishNow system or else just use free-to-air (and accompanying hacks to get onto Dish). Or if I were smart, I'd stray towards RV parks with free WiFi and just Hulu all the shows I want to see when traveling. #gizmodoremainders
There's a similar situation with a town listed as "Ioka, IA" near where I live. It's on Google maps, but there is literally one house there. #gizmodoremainders

OBLIGATORY PEDANTRY: Walter Carlos created the Clockwork Orange soundtrack. He became Wendy the following year.
