Marshall is back with another Bluetooth speaker, the Stockwell III, and the third installment of its name brings a couple of upgrades worth considering.

Arguably, the biggest improvement is the battery life, which jumps from 20 hours to 40 hours—double the previous generation of Stockwell Bluetooth speakers. That’s a solid generation-over-generation improvement. It also beats competitors like the Bose SoundLink Plus, which gets 20 hours on a single charge at moderate volume, and the Sonos Play, which gets 24 hours. To make that extra juice more appealing, you can use the Stockwell III as a power bank to charge other devices, like your phone.

Speaking of batteries, the Stockwell III is also more modular than previous Marshall speakers. This generation lets you swap out a few parts, including the front and rear grilles, the silicone sleeve, the carry strap, and, most importantly, the battery, which is now easily replaceable. This last part is huge because the battery is often the first part of many electronics to deteriorate, which can send products to a landfill prematurely.

Sound-wise, the Stockwell III also improves upon the previous generation with Dynamic Loudness, which automatically adjusts treble and bass at lower volumes for balanced tuning across the volume range. Similar to the Stockwell II, Marshall’s new speaker features “True Stereophonic” 360-degree sound, which uses a front and rear tweeter to create a greater sense of space.

As always, the Stockwell III is designed to look like Marshall’s iconic guitar amps and comes with analog knobs, though this generation now includes the M button, which cycles through preset sound profiles, and a button for skipping tracks.

The Stockwell III comes in black, brass, and cream and can be ordered on Marshall. com for $249.99. Retail sales start Tuesday, Aug. 4th.
