New Year’s Eve is upon us, and with it comes the yearly late night transportation apocalypse. Everybody wants to go somewhere at the same time, and cabs to ferry drunk people around are in short supply. An Uber with a jacked up surge price is an option a lot of people will go for. But if you’ve had it with Uber’s shady business practices, you’ve got other options. Here’s a list of alternatives for people who don’t want to give Uber their money.
Just to be clear, not all of these options will be cheaper than Uber, but many will be. For example, Lyft has surge pricing but it’s capped at 4x the original fare. The point is you have options. You are not captive to Uber ‘s bullshit. Choice is always a good thing.
Also note that this post was written in the fall when Hailo was still an option. It’s not in the US any more.
