62 Years of Global Warming in One Terrifying GIF

If you’re on the East Coast you might be getting some snow today, but rest assured the globe is getting warmer by the year. A lot warmer. See for yourself.

This visualization from NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies was just updated with new data from 2013, which tied for the hottest year since 1880 at an average of 58.3 degrees Fahrenheit. A whole 1.1 degrees warmer than the mid-19th-century baseline. In the context of the grand trend laid bare in NASA’s visualization, it’s easy to see how it won’t be a record-holder for long.
