Many of us have discovered NASA’s Instagram account during this fine Summer of Pluto, but believe it or not, there are plenty of other great government photo caches over on the Insta. Here are a few of the best.

US Department of the Interior

This account should really have at least a million followers. America is freakin’ beautiful, and nobody shows it off like the Department of the Interior.

NASA

If you haven’t already taken the cue to follow NASA on Instagram, do so right now. Cosmic fireworks. Star clusters billions of billions of miles away. Animated flyovers of distant planets that yes we actually flew to. The universe is waiting.

The White House

A bit of a hodgepodge, this one....but where else on social media can you find images of POTUS tweeting (meta!) alongside adorable endangered pangolins?

Department of Defense

Paratroopers! Artillery! Tactical satellites! This account just kicks ass.

National Marine Fisheries Service

Adorably miniaturized sea life? Great. Gaping shark mouths? Awesome. Nightmares from the bottom of the sea? For the love of God, put that thing back where it came from.

The State Department

John Kerry with babies. John Kerry with baby elephants. And the most patriotic appetizers spreads you’ve ever seen. (Presumably for John Kerry and a tribe of infants.)

Department of Energy

Hop on over to the DOE for a quick tour of our nation’s national labs, gorgeous particle accelerators, portraits of famous women in science, and notably few coal power plants.

US Coast Guard

Apparently, our nation’s coastlines are guarded by adorable pooches. Somehow, Air Bud missed the boat.
