It’s no secret that professional model makers often use the same plastic model kits you can buy at a hobby shop, they’re just highly skilled at painting them to look incredibly realistic. Tristan Elliott instead started with Hasbro’s Battle Action Millennium Falcon toy, and with a little extra paint, turned it into a near-flawless film prop.

Modern manufacturing techniques have resulted in plastic toys featuring incredible amounts of detail, as was the case with Hasbro’s most recent version of the Millennium Falcon. But out of the box it was still painfully obviously a toy—until Elliott got to work on it.

Using some masterful distressing and detailing techniques, Elliott, who has a degree from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, quickly added about 30 years and 1,000 parsecs of wear and tear to this Falcon.

The final results are not only stunning, they actually make this toy Falcon look like an official ILM prop from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Hasbro should seriously consider hiring Elliott to design the paint work for its upcoming toys, but until that time head on over to IMGUR to check out more shots of his fantastic work on this model.
