One of the many, many amazing bits of photo and video being run in The Atlantic’s powerful package on nuclear testing in the US is this shot.

It’s a space view of a 400-kiloton bomb detonated in the atmosphere, 30 miles above the Pacific, during Fishbowl Bluegill in Oct. 1962. [The Atlantic]
