Acer rolled out its TravelMate 3020 dual core laptop in the UK this morning, with a 12.1-inch 1280×800 screen and an Intel Core Duo processor inside. A few nice touches are added to the mini-notebook me-too mix, such as a 1.3-megapixel webcam, 5-in-1 card reader which can come in quite handy on the road, and a 3.63 lb. weight even with the largest battery pack on board. Plus, you can stoke it with two gigs of RAM.

Acer designers seem to think that white is the new black, and try to differentiate their products from all others (except Apple) by blathering on about how white is a reflective color. PR-Speak aside, this is not a bad-looking ultra-portable. Its key attribute, as it is with most Acer products, will be its price, about which Acer was unfortunately coy in its press release today. Let’s face it: if it costs less than the 13-inch MacBook, it has a chance. If not, a few Europeans might buy it, but it won’t be a world-changing hit. The company was also not forthcoming about this product’s release date.
