The Dominion Lawsuit

Murdoch stood behind Trump through thick and thin, despite whatever political compunctions he may have had. The network helped magnify Trump’s bogus claims of election fraud by opening up their doors to the ghouls like Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani and letting them speak out their asses, repeatedly unchallenged.

It came to a head when Dominion Voting Systems brought a $1.6 billion lawsuit against Fox for defamation. Fox would eventually settle the suit for a mere $787.5 million, a massive payout that let the company escape without admitting fault, but that would send the message Fox was unwilling to let itself be analyzed in a public courtroom.

Most of Fox News’ mainline hosts and execs remained at the center of the allegations, but a special place was reserved for Murdoch as he had a direct role in dictating how Fox covered Trump’s election lies. Murdoch would tell Dominion he wished he had been “stronger in denouncing” Trump’s election fraud claims, but the exec had been actively working with Trump even to the point he gave the Trump campaign Biden’s advertising plans. Murdoch had allegedly ordered his company to fire a reporter who called Arizona for Biden after polls closed.
