Amazon Hits Hard on the Bose QuietComfort Ultra, 40% Off the Headphones With Spatial Audio and Full ANC

Most ANC headphones block the world out and play audio into your ears. The Bose QuietComfort Ultra puts sound around you instead. Prime Day just dropped it 40%.

Spatial audio in a pair of over-ear headphones with full active noise cancellation is still a premium combination, and Prime Day just made it significantly more accessible. Amazon has dropped the Bose QuietComfort Ultra to $269, down from its $449 list price, which is 40% off and an all-time low for these wireless headphones with Bose Immersive Audio, CustomTune personalized sound, three listening modes, and 24-hour battery life. This deal requires Prime membership and getting this one requires Prime, though the 30-day trial needs no card to activate.

What Immersion Mode actually does to how music sounds

The Bose QuietComfort Ultra is the only Bose headphone that combines full active noise cancellation with Bose Immersive Audio in a single mode called Immersion Mode. Standard ANC headphones, including the regular QuietComfort, block outside sound and play audio directly into your ears. Immersion Mode does something different: it processes the audio to create a sense of space around the sound, so music and film audio feel like they’re coming from in front of you and around you rather than from inside your head. The effect is closer to listening on a high-quality speaker system in a good room than to conventional headphone listening.

CustomTune technology takes a reading of your ear canal acoustics when you put the headphones on and adjusts the sound profile specifically to your ear shape in real time. That’s a meaningful distinction from fixed EQ presets or app-based adjustments: the personalization happens automatically at the hardware level every time you wear them, which means the sound you hear is shaped to your specific anatomy rather than a population average.

Three listening modes cover the full range of use cases. Quiet Mode delivers full ANC for focused work or travel. Aware Mode lets ambient sound in so you can stay conscious of your surroundings without removing the headphones. Immersion Mode combines full noise cancellation with spatial audio processing for dedicated listening sessions. Switching between them happens via touch controls on the ear cups, and head motion detection can turn the headphones on and off automatically when you put them on or take them off.

40% off on headphones that haven’t been this cheap before

The QuietComfort Ultra launched at $449 and has spent most of its life at or near that number. At $269, this is the lowest price the Ultra has ever reached, and it took a Prime Day deal to get there. For context, the Sony WH-1000XM5 at its current sale price delivers strong ANC and solid audio but does not offer spatial audio or a dedicated Immersion Mode. The Apple AirPods Max with spatial audio starts significantly higher even at sale prices. The QuietComfort Ultra at $269 undercuts both in terms of the spatial audio plus full ANC combination at this price point.

Battery life covers 24 hours of standard use, dropping to 18 hours with Immersive Audio active, which is the expected trade-off for the additional processing that spatial audio requires. The 15-minute quick charge delivers 2.5 hours of playback, Bluetooth 5.3 covers a 30-foot range, and SimpleSync lets you pair the headphones with a Bose smart soundbar to listen to TV audio at your own volume independently of the room.

Spatial audio headphones with full ANC, CustomTune personalization, and a three-mode listening system at 40% off is the kind of combination that doesn’t show up often. At $269 for what launched at $449, the QuietComfort Ultra has never been a more rational purchase than it is right now during Prime Day.
