Amazon Ignores Its Own Recent Price Hike, Slashing Fire TV Stick 4K Plus Nearly 50% to a Record Low

Streaming sticks are slowly but surely being nudged toward the Drawer of Obsolete Tech Stuff by smart TVs, but they’re still darned useful for second TVs, guest rooms, or the millions of non-smart TVs that are still in use. The Fire TV Stick 4K Plus is the model that Amazon’s still keeping up with the times with an updated interface and Alexa+ built in, and it’s just $38 during a fast-moving deal right now.

The 2026 Fire TV interface is Amazon’s most significant platform update in years. The redesigned interface organizes content into dedicated categories rather than a single algorithmic feed, lets you pin more apps to the home screen, and uses Alexa+ for natural-language search across your streaming library. Ask it to find something to watch, and it searches across your subscriptions rather than making you open each app individually. Wi-Fi 6 support keeps 4K streams stable when the rest of your household is also pulling from the router, which matters more in practice than the spec sheet suggests.

Current-Gen Picture Quality

The picture quality is what you’d expect from a current-generation 4K stick: Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and Dolby Atmos audio on content that supports it. That’s the full HDR suite, and the combination of Dolby Vision for video and Dolby Atmos for audio covers the major streaming platforms’ premium tiers without requiring you to match a soundbar to a TV that already handles audio.

The cloud gaming angle is great, but it comes with strings. The Fire TV Stick 4K Plus supports Xbox Game Pass and Luna, which means you can stream Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Hogwarts Legacy, Outer Worlds 2, and Ninja Gaiden 4 without a console attached to your TV. You do need an active Xbox Game Pass subscription and a compatible Bluetooth controller, both sold separately. If you have those already, the stick turns any HDMI-equipped television into a functional cloud gaming setup.

Talk to Your Remote

The Alexa Voice Remote handles app launches, smart home controls, and TV power and volume through a single remote, which reduces the number of things sitting on the coffee table. The preset app buttons cover the major services, and Alexa handles anything not mapped to a physical button. The remote also gives you direct access to free ad-supported content through Fire TV Channels, Tubi, and Pluto TV.

The Fire TV Stick 4K Plus at $38 is the stronger buy over the standard Fire TV Stick at any nearby price, given the 4K support, Dolby Vision, and Wi-Fi 6 that the lower tier skips. The “deal selling fast” label is Amazon’s urgency flag rather than a stated end date, but it usually signals a deal that’s soon to expire.
