Apple Watch Series 12 Leads Off Amazon Prime Big Deal Days With Its Lowest Price Despite Being Brand New

Go big with the 46mm GPS + Cellular version of Apple's newest smartwatch.

Reading time 2 minutes

If you’re one of those tech shoppers who wants the latest and greatest model but you hang on the sidelines until the first crack in the pricing dam shows up, your time to jump on Apple’s newest smartwatch is now. The Apple Watch Series 12 GPS + Cellular in the 46mm Black Aluminum configuration is down to $500 at Amazon, off its $549 list price. The $49 price drop isn’t going to knock any of the Prime Big Deal Days headlines off the front page, but it’s the first downward shift in Series 12 pricing yet.

The health tracking side of the Series 12 is where Apple has made a quantum leap over its predecessor models of the Apple Watch. Heart rate sensing now takes a background reading every five seconds, and HRV measurement runs as often as every five minutes, which pushes the stress and recovery data from a periodic snapshot to something closer to continuous monitoring. The Vitals app consolidates overnight metrics including blood oxygen, respiratory rate, and sleep score into a single post-wake summary. A new readiness experience pulls recent sleep, vitals, and activity together to give you a clearer sense of whether today is a push day or a recovery day.

Ultra Tough

The Series 12’s 46mm case houses Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple describes as tougher than any smartwatch glass currently on the market. That’s a must-have for something you’re wearing through workouts and any accidental contact with hard surfaces. The aluminum chassis keeps the weight down relative to the titanium and ceramic models.

Fitness tracking builds on the standard Apple Watch foundation with a few Series 12-specific additions. Pacer, Heart Rate Zones, and Workout Buddy (which requires a nearby iPhone running Apple Intelligence) give structured workouts more real-time feedback than earlier models offered. The safety suite carries forward crash and fall detection, with automatic emergency services contact and notification to designated emergency contacts. These features have been available since Series 8 and are well-proven by now.

All-Day Juice

Battery life is rated at up to 24 hours of normal use, which remains the trade-off with Apple Watch compared to competitors that stretch to multi-day run times. The 15-minute fast-charge window that delivers 12 hours of use makes for a quick top-up before bed if you ran the battery down during a workout, but it still requires a nightly charge for most users. Cellular capability adds the ability to take calls, stream music, and receive notifications without an iPhone nearby, though that requires a carrier plan in addition to the watch price.

At Amazon’s new $500 price for a GPS + Cellular 46mm model, the Series 12 competes in a bracket that includes some compelling Android alternatives. If the Apple ecosystem is already your home base and you’ve been holding off on upgrading, the current Amazon price gives you a solid entry point.
