Proof that more isn’t always better: the HiVi Swans 2.3, a jumble of 117 speakers (including 2 subwoofers) crammed into 7 boxes. Can we say “overkill?” This beast is perfect for the discriminating audiophile with a cavernous living room and $29,040 to blow on speakers. For $30 grand, I expect better production quality than thinly-veneered fiberboard. On the bright side, HiVi may win the “most flagrant use of Yanni” award this year.
