Each engine weighed several tons. And there were eight of them. How do you walk out of a high security installation with eight enormous (and enormously heavy) fighter engines? Probably with help from someone on the inside—Israel says “The military police have opened an inquiry into the matter.” This is extremely embarrassing, to say the least.
