One of the coolest things about the Batpod from the upcoming Dark Knight movie is the fact that it actually works. Previously seen being straddled by Meredith Viera on The Today Show, the decked out motorcycle burned rubber at the slightly more dignified British Formula One Grand Prix this weekend. Who else would give anything to be Jean-Pierre Goy, Christian Bale's stuntman, right now? [Gizmag]

I'm still suspicious about the usefulness of the BatPod. While I'm looking forward to the movie, that bike confuses me. If batman was seriously considering a motorcycle as a mode of transportation, what does the batpod give him that your average Enduro motocross bike doesn't?

I imagine that the batpod has a lower center of gravity. Maybe that is necessary when you attach large bore rifles to the front suspension. But other then that, I don't see the benefit. Parts would be tough to find, and we know that that is an issue for batman from the first movie. He ordered his helmet cowl in multiple pieces and in large numbers to avoid arousing suspicion.
