Apple’s foldable iPhone is expected later this year, and Samsung is not waiting around. The Galaxy Z Fold7 256GB is down to $1,599, off its $1,999 list price and at its record low on Amazon, a $400 cut on a phone that launched just months ago. Samsung is moving inventory at nearly zero margin before the foldable market gets a lot more crowded.

200MP camera, 8-inch display, Snapdragon 8 Elite

The Z Fold7 is Samsung’s most refined foldable to date, and the spec sheet reflects that. The 200MP main camera with Pro-Visual Engine is the highest resolution sensor Samsung has ever put on a foldable, and it brings the Fold lineup to parity with the Galaxy S25 Ultra on imaging. The inner display stretches to 8 inches at 120Hz on an AMOLED panel, wide enough to run three apps simultaneously in split-screen without the layout feeling cramped. The Snapdragon 8 Elite processor runs at up to 4.47GHz and handles everything from 8K video capture to real-time AI photo processing without thermal throttling under sustained load.

Samsung made the Fold7 significantly slimmer than its predecessors, bringing it closer in hand feel to a conventional smartphone when folded. The cover display is larger than previous generations, which means more of the phone’s functionality is accessible without unfolding. The Armor Aluminum frame and Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 panel address the durability concerns that followed earlier Fold generations, and the phone carries water resistance ratings that previous foldables in this line could not match.

Google Gemini live, Galaxy AI, and the foldable advantage

The Galaxy Z Fold7 ships with Android 16 and One UI 8, and Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite runs natively across the full inner display. The Google Gemini integration adds a screenshare mode where you can point the camera at anything and get contextual information in real time, which works considerably better on an 8-inch screen than on a standard smartphone display. AI photo editing, live translation, and note-taking tools all scale to the larger canvas in ways that make the foldable form factor feel like a deliberate advantage rather than a novelty.

The 4,400mAh battery supports up to 33 hours of talk time and 11 hours of average use, which is a meaningful step up from earlier Fold models that struggled to make it through a full day of heavy use. The 256GB base storage covers most users, and the phone supports up to 2TB via external expansion.

Apple’s foldable iPhone will almost certainly reset buyer expectations in this category the moment it launches. Until then, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is the best foldable phone available, and at $1,599 it is $400 below its launch price at a record low that reflects Samsung’s urgency to move units before the competitive landscape shifts.
