As long as humans are dealing with big data, computer modeling, and artificial intelligence, data science will be a vital part of the future. The No. 1 school on our list, MIT, opened its Statistics and Data Science Center in 2015 to serve as the hub for data science research at the school. Besides its minor and “micromaster’s” in Statistics and Data Science, MIT offers an interdisciplinary PhD in statistics that can be paired with eight other fields, from mechanical engineering to cognitive science.
