If you value flexibility and aren’t afraid of experimenting with website looks, Webflow is for you. During our extensive Webflow review, we were amazed at its versatility and power. It’s easily one of the best options for designing responsive, high-tech websites fairly easily. However, despite its unharnessed power, Webflow isn’t for everyone. That’s a huge caveat.
Webflow is a professional-grade website builder whose editor has a steeper learning curve. Paired with a bespoke CMS, similar to that of WordPress, it represents an advanced solution for building and managing your websites. In short, this platform is fantastic.
Still, we’d like to bring the spotlight to its “highs” and “lows” in this Webflow review for 2026. We tested its paid version to examine all of the “premium” features carefully. However, Webflow also has a free version, which will be addressed at one point in this test.
Webflow
Webflow is a brilliant no-code website builder ideal for unique website designs. It offers excellent templates, stellar e-commerce tools, and plenty of in-house and third-party apps for SEO, marketing, and website management. While its customer support is underwhelming and some plans are pricier, Webflow lets you start for free and subscribe to it if you end up liking it.
Pros
- Over 6,000 website templates
- Allows for unique website designs
- Easy mobile optimization
- Comprehensive SEO tools
- Top-tier security features in all plans
- Multiple free plans
Cons
- Convoluted pricing structure
- No 24/7 live chat support
- No template switching
How to Get Started With Webflow?
When we compared Webflow to Wix, we found that both are pretty simple to start with. Webflow, despite being a bit more complex later on, sets you off to a humble start. You can start for free, which we recommend. In that case, you can sign up with Google or email.

After that, the website builder will require your first and last name and the next step would be to decide who you’re building websites for. We selected “Myself” because we wanted to build a Webflow testing site.

The next step is to determine the type of website you’re looking to build. Is it going to be a portfolio website or an online store? Or a blog? You decide. For this Webflow review, we opted for an online store.

The last window will provide several ways to get started:
- With a blank site, which gives you a blank slate to work with.
- With a template, which is slightly simpler but can be costly (more about that later).
- Finally, you have the tutorial option, which will get you acquainted with Webflow.
We chose the middle option and selected from one of its many free and paid templates.
Overall, the start-up process is intuitive and very handholdy, which beginners will appreciate. In our Webflow analysis, we found it unsuitable for beginners but at least the initial “spark” isn’t intimidating. Off to a good start.
Webflow Templates & Quality Review
One of the key advantages of Webflow is its template selection. In a recent Wix review, we praised the service for offering 900+ free templates. While Wix’s templates are state-of-the-art, Webflow’s 6,000+ templates are slightly more advanced and supportive of responsive designs with complex animations.
In the same fashion, you’ll find that most are premium but these ones are free:

You can see they look rather nice. We especially like Momentum and Enigma AI Studio templates, which we used in our Webflow review and test. Like Wix, Webflow includes complex categorization, such as:
- Environment
- Food & Drink
- Government
- Education
- Community & Nonprofit
- Arts & Entertainment
- Blog & Editorial, and dozens more.
This makes it easy to find a template for your website and adapt it to your needs. As a result, Webflow can be used to craft wedding websites or have a nice platform related to food and drink using one of these cute themes:

As you can see above, many templates within the “Food & Drink” category are premium. These are one-time fees that usually go up to $149, depending not only on their looks but their added functionalities.
Drawing from our experience with Webflow, we can say you don’t necessarily need to spend money on a template. Of course, this depends on your needs and desires but even non-paid templates tend to look posh, unlike Shopify’s free templates which look a smidge outdated.
Website Building & Design
Okay, so now we come to the website building and design aspect, which is where Webflow truly shines. There’s no drag-and-drop editor, instead, it looks similar to Adobe Illustrator. This is what we’re referring to:

You have your website in the middle, while the sides of the screen are reserved for your editorial tools. Webflow uses responsive templates so in most cases, you don’t have to go the extra mile and edit mobile and/or tablet versions separately. The good news is that you CAN if you want to:

The whole design philosophy relies on meticulous manipulation of HTML elements on the left-hand side. You can add buttons, sections, and media from here, and then edit their appearance using the menu on the right. However, designing and creating a website with Webflow requires a bit more knowledge.
Specifically, we think about CSS and HTML. You need at least basic knowledge to be able to properly assign classes and not make a garbled mess out of your website. Speaking of making a mess, Webflow has a nasty downside of not allowing you to switch the template.
When you select one, you’ll have to stick with it, which reminds us of Wix and its identical problem we’ve been criticizing for years. In a test of Squarespace, we praised that website builder for allowing the user to switch to another template “mid-game” without repercussions.
The good thing is that Webflow lets you experiment with your website and see how it’ll look thanks to the Live Prototyping tool. If you like what you see, you can keep using the template and work your way from there.
Webflow CMS Review
During our review of Webflow in 2026, we realized that the website builder separates website design and content creation. In the previous Webflow review section, we discussed website design but Webflow CMS is where you’ll create content — CMS stands for Content Management System.
We think this has a huge advantage for those who frequently update their websites.
For example, if you just want to alter the design of your website, you can do this without interfering with the content. Conversely, you can alter the content, while keeping your website design identical. It’s extremely easy to update both aspects with Webflow.
Moving on, content creation with Webflow CMS is easy, even for beginners. Everything is neatly organized and split into sections like About Us, Product Pages, Blog Posts, etc. Click on one of these, add some images, write new text, or whatever — it’s all foolproof.
We love the option to add, for example, scrolling animations, which make the website smoother and professional-looking. Just be careful not to overdo these, as some of the designs we created in our Webflow review weren’t the most functional on mobile devices.
E-Commerce Features Assessment
Webflow is a respectable e-commerce website builder but don’t expect miracles. During our Webflow assessment, we had no issues building an online store, adding items, and performing daily tasks, like inventory management, shipping control, adding payment vendors, etc.
However, Webflow offers separate e-commerce plans, so the “General” plans won’t allow you to sell online. They’re more for bloggers and non-for-profit sites. The E-commerce “side” of things starts at $29/mo and includes:
- 500 e-commerce items
- 2,000 CMS items
- 2% transaction fee
On top of that, you get everything from the CMS plan, which we’ll discuss below, which, shortly, includes 50 GB of bandwidth, 150 pages, a custom domain, etc. Webflow’s e-commerce plans allow you to sell from 500 to 15,000 items — Shopify allows unlimited.

It’s good to know that Plus and Advanced plans at $74/mo and $212/mo respectively contain 0% transaction fees.
Selling Online With Webflow
Selling online with this website builder isn’t overly complex. Using its might CMS, you can effortlessly add products and edit their descriptions, images, SEO, tags, etc. One thing we love about it is inventory management, which, given Webflow’s “weaker” focus on e-commerce, is quite well done.
Once you add your products, Webflow will automatically track and update your stock with each sale. There’s no need for manual labor and that’s a huge relief. Just be sure to go to Inventory Tracking and toggle it ON. Still, you can customize the experience a bit more.
For instance, Webflow can notify you of low-stock or out-of-stock items if you want.
Webflow allows you to fully customize your Checkout page, which we also saw in our Shopify test for 2026. Additionally, you can sell physical and digital products without paying additionally, and even add paid user accounts who can pay a membership fee to access special content.
Each of Webflow’s e-commerce plans includes 3 to 15 staff accounts, so if need be, you can assign roles to other people and let them take care of various business aspects. Beware that Webflow functions well for small and mid-sized businesses. Large businesses are better off with Shopify or Wix at the very least.
Shipping & Payment Features
You can customize shipping via Webflow Editor, so the process is painless and quite simple.
It allows you to add shipping methods and name them. You’ll also be able to add a description so that you know which shipping method you want to use based on the scenario. Speaking of scenarios, Webflow enables you to use different shipping rates, such as:
- Item quantity
- Item price
- Weight
- Flat rate
- Percentage-based
We can’t say which one is best because it depends on what you’re selling. Weight-based is the most typical one, although a flat rate can be great if you’re selling “identical” products in terms of weight and looks. At least Webflow will automatically calculate shipping rates.
Thus, you can use the result to determine which shipping method works best and brings in more profit.

As for payment methods, Webflow includes:
- Stripe (includes credit/debit cards)
- PayPal
- Apple Pay & Google Pay
As said, you can reduce transaction fees taken by Webflow to 0% but PayPal and Stripe have their separate fees, so be mindful of that. PayPal and Stripe are often used by Webflow-based businesses but we’d love to see more payment methods instead of just a few.
For example, Wix Payments houses 70+ vendors, which provides ample freedom for worldwide customers. The same goes for Squarespace and Shopify’s in-house payment solutions, all of which surpass Webflow.
Are Webflow’s SEO and Marketing Tools Any Good?
Webflow counts many built-in SEO and marketing tools that you can use to boost your online visibility. Of course, it’s not going to match Semrush and other dedicated tools but the basics are there and include:
- Customization of meta descriptions, sitemap indexing, title tags, etc.
- Setting up 301 redirects, which is handy for URL and website updates
- Auto-generation of XML sitemaps
- Dynamically generated schema markups

Webflow relies on a built-in CDN, which improves website performance and thus, positively influences your SEO because page-loading speeds matter. If this is insufficient, Webflow possesses an app market, which we’ll address later in this review.
Here, you’ll find tons of SEO tools like Schema Flow, FluidSEO, Semflow, Pixie, and others.
Marketing is one of its more impressive perks, too. It supports seamless Instagram and Facebook integrations to help you run ad campaigns on social media. Webflow also natively integrates with Mailchimp and Google Shopping, plus, you can enjoy custom code integrations for more control.
Again, we’ll mention its app store, where you’ll find tons of other marketing tools, most of which either have a free trial or a free plan.
Webflow Apps Review
This segways into the Webflow review of its application store, which is swarming with apps that you can install within seconds. We say swarming because there are so many of them, that it’s hard to distinguish good from bad ones, mostly because there are no user reviews.
When you click on the app, you can see how many likes it has, which is sort of useful but doesn’t give you the full picture of its real-world quality. Nevertheless, here’s how this gigantic section looks:

It’s astonishing just how many categories you have. From SEO and marketing to e-commerce, localization, design, compliance, automation, and other tools. We touched on localization, which includes some amazing tools like Crowdin, Smartling, and Lokalise.
We used Lokalise to translate our website from English to a few other languages like French, German, and Portuguese with great success. E-commerce apps are also plentiful and you’ll find a few interesting ones like Shopyflow, which lets you craft Shopify storefronts codeless.
We enjoyed experimenting with different apps in our Webflow review because they’re so diverse and ubiquitous.
How Much Is Webflow? Is It Affordable?
If you’re looking for a low-cost website builder, Webflow is a stellar option. But does it bring notable value for money?
General Plans
Let’s see. So, there’s a free plan, which is nothing to write home about, although it offers 20 and 50 CMS collections and items respectively.

This is strange because the least expensive Basic plan at $14/mo has none but it does include the option to use a custom domain and have a 150-page website. Other plans, like CMS and Business increase bandwidth from 10 GB to 50 GB and 100 GB respectively.
The Business plan also lets you increase the storage to 2.5 TB, making it great for very large companies. This time, you’re also getting up to 20,000 CMS items, 40 CMS collections, and a 300-page website, plus surge protection, a custom search engine, and much more.
Ecommerce Plans
As stated earlier in this Webflow analysis, Ecommerce plans range from $29/mo to $212/mo.
They include 500 to 15,000 e-commerce items and 2% to 0% transaction fees, as displayed in the screenshot below. It’s worth noting that selling online with Webflow is possible ONLY with Ecommerce plans, so even the expensive Business plan won’t be online store-friendly.

Instead of Webflow’s Standard or Plus plans, we’d rather go for Wix Core at $29/mo or pick Shopify Basic at $24/mo. The latter is especially better because it allows you to sell unlimited items, rather than 500 in Webflow.
Workspace Plans
Webflow comes with Workspace plans made for teams and multi-site needs. As you see, there’s a free plan for teams but if you’re looking for premium features, you’ll spend $19/mo for the Core plan. All plans, including the free one, support unlimited paid hosted sites.

The differences are mainly in the number of pages per staged site and added features like site-level roles, code exporting, 301 redirects, shared libraries, and more.

Finally, you can explore Workspace plans for freelancers and agencies, which start at $16/mo for the premium version. You’ll be able to manage client payments, have full CMS access on staging sites, and assign advanced permissions and roles to your collaborators.
Ultimately, if you’re not sure what’s the best starting point, first get a free plan to acquaint yourself with the platform. We recommend the Basic plan if you like Webflow and would love to use it as your main website builder. Starting at $14/mo, Webflow doesn’t cost a fortune, after all.
Customer Support
The commodity called live chat support is absent from Webflow’s arsenal and if you appreciate getting help with a snap of a finger, this can be a turn-off. The Support section of the website highlights:
- Webflow University
- Quick Help
- Community Forum
The first option is more like a learning hub, so it’s not a “direct” support method. Quick Help lets you find answers to common questions, while the Community Forum connects you with developers and designers who will gladly help you with your pressing issues. So, what’s the problem?
The problem is the lack of a more straightforward support method. Email, support, at least.
Webflow fixed that by allowing you to send a ticket for specific problems you can’t fix. In this case, Webflow’s team jumps in and handles your request. The level of support is decent for someone who loves exploring and finding things manually. We appreciate that.
However, in times of need, you just want the support team member to pick you up and work with you until the final resolution. Unfortunately, such a treatment is found in Wix and Squarespace — not here!
Security Features
Before we end our Webflow review for 2026, let’s assess its security features.
During our testing, we found that Webflow uses 2FA, which is beneficial for overall site protection. It prevents unauthorized access, as the “assailant” would need to verify his identity before entering. There’s also DDoS protection, which we think is essential, too.

All plans include at least basic DoS protection, while the Enterprise plan offers Advanced DDoS protection. Webflow’s websites support custom SSL certificates, plus, you get private webflow.io staging, where you can experiment with your website without anyone’s notice.
Additionally, Webflow employs hardware and physical security, preventing physical damage to its data centers. E-commerce plans use Level 1 payment vendors like PayPal or Stripe, where each bit of customer information is handled with extreme caution and kept safe from snoopers.
For a website builder, Webflow’s security measures are immaculate and that’s always a plus.
Webflow Review: Should You Build a Website With Webflow?
To land the plane and call it a day, our Webflow review ends on a good note. There’s much to like and very few things to dislike about it. When it comes to good things, Webflow is an incredible website builder with plenty of design freedom, which separates it from the likes of Wix, Squarespace, and Weebly.
Its CMS left a positive impression on our experts because it eases content creation and management. Webflow could improve its e-commerce functions and customer support. While this isn’t necessarily a downside, the website builder is not geared towards total beginners.
If you’re inexperienced and prefer simplicity over a greater level of freedom, Wix will likely suit you better. However, if you have a knack for website design, Webflow’s innovative templates and high-tech editor will scratch that itch. Go ahead and test it for free. You’ll be amazed.
