Website Setup: Wix vs Hostinger
The initial impression of both doesn’t leave space for unprofessionalism. Whether you’re a seasoned website developer or a painfully inexperienced newbie, both Wix and Hostinger will do their best to welcome you. So, how to get started with these providers?
How to Get Started With Wix?
Let’s first discuss Wix. Once you register an account, you can actually build your website for free. This is why Wix is a popular free website builder. Nevertheless, the initial setup will guide you through a few questions about the website you’re working on.
Most importantly, you’ll be able to choose between an AI or a template – what’s the difference?

If you pick the AI option, Wix will ask you a few more questions and forge a website based on your answers. It’ll do its best, although this “best” isn’t always great. The good news is that you can then edit the final result using the editor and tailor the “creation” to your desires.
If you go with the template, there won’t be an AI to help you.
In this case, you’ll be able to search for the template you want, select it, and start working on it. After you’re done, publish the site, and await results. More about that aspect later in our Wix vs Hostinger test.
How to Get Started With Hostinger?
Hostinger lets you quickly get started and the initial setup is one of the best we’ve seen.
You’ll be asked about very basic things; for instance, who is the website for – you or someone else? After that, Hostinger will want to know if you’re building a new website or migrating the existing one. We’ll assume you’ll choose the first option. You’ll now see this:

For one, you can build a website with WordPress. Two, you can use the website builder.
The first option is out of this Wix vs Hostinger comparison’s domain, so we’ll stick to the latter. After choosing the latter, you’ll need to name the domain and from here, let Hostinger AI make a website for you based on your preferences. Don’t worry, you can edit it right away.
We noticed that Hostinger AI is pretty efficient and sticks well to your desires. Though, you’ll never want to leave the website at that. Editing and personalization are a must.
Build a Website With Hostinger
The first round can only be a tie. Both are fast to start with and offer even beginners an easy-going setup.
Which One Has Better Templates: Wix or Hostinger?
What’s a website builder without striking templates?
The whole purpose of using a website builder is to simplify the creation process for those lacking skills in HTML and CSS. You’ll be happy to know that:
- Wix has 900+ free templates
- Hostinger has 150+ free templates
Hostinger loses to Wix in the numbers game. At “only” 150 templates, Wix virtually trumps the web hosting giant six-fold. The good thing is that the lack of quality doesn’t beat up Hostinger’s smaller selection of templates. They look stunning in most cases.

Moreover, thanks to the search bar, you can find the ones you need quickly.
Wix’s 900+ templates are equally simple to navigate. For one, you get the search bar, and two, there’s extensive categorization. If you need a template for a specific business; let’s say, housekeeping, you’ll find at least a few to aid your cause. That’s a neat feature.

Unlike the recently tested Shopify, both providers offer free templates. Thus, you won’t have to pay a one-time fee and increase the cost. After examining Wix vs Hostinger thoroughly, we found that the template quality is rather equal but the former offers more.
As a result, Wix wins the template comparison.

Editing & Site-Building: Hostinger vs Wix
Okay, so the real fun ought to begin with the template in place. You’re now moving to website creation, which means customizing the template and working your magic. But which website builder offers more in this aspect, Wix or Hostinger?
Website Building With Wix
Wix’s trademark is website building, which is expected from a… well, website builder!
Unlike GoDaddy or even Weebly, Wix is known to provide ample freedom to fully redesign templates and adapt them to your very needs. The drag-and-drop editor lets you place any element anywhere on the site, which can create a mumbo-jumbo mess sometimes.
However, once you get to grips with it, you’ll feel like a pro. We love that Wix’s drag-and-drop editor contains virtually hundreds of elements that you can work with. For instance, there’s the option to customize buttons, which you won’t find in some of its competitors.

You can add shadows, insert icons, and alter the button borders. In Weebly which we tested against Wix, the buttons of the selected template aren’t customizable. One thing to note is that Wix’s level of freedom is so imposing, that you can find yourself lost at times.
Whether that’s good or bad, depends on your experience.
Users who’ve used website builders previously will adore this. Newbies will likely yearn for something more simplistic and section-based. The downside to Wix’s website design philosophy is the inability to switch to a different template once the website is live.
You can do this but you’ll lose ALL progress and have to start from scratch. Ouch.
Website Building With Hostinger
Now, Hostinger’s website builder is very, very good. Considering it’s primarily a web hosting provider, it’s one of the best website builders we’ve used.
While not as freedom-inclined as Wix, Hostinger Website Builder has a drag-and-drop editor supported by ample AI tools. During our Wix vs Hostinger test, we found the latter a lot easier to use but at the cost of design freedom, which, again, some might be okay with.
For instance, it’s a lot easier to publish the website quickly because you’re more likely to get used to it due to the section-based editor. In simple words, you can edit pre-made website sections or add new ones with a single click, which is enough to make a good-looking site.

Complexity isn’t its forte, so you can expect rather basic but functional designs.
Hostinger’s AI tools are second to none. There’s the AI blog generator paired with an AI writer, both of which aid content creation tremendously. Even the AI image generator is there, which is handy for generating product images in case you’re selling online.
By the way, Hostinger is a stellar e-commerce website builder for this purpose.
Is it better than Wix? Not exactly. We think Wix is better for website building because it offers more design freedom and supports more “complex” design. In addition, its more numerous templates add to the overall premium feeling that Wix selfishly gives.
Which Website Builder Is Better for E-commerce?
In the previous Hostinger vs Wix duel, we briefly mentioned e-commerce. Vital to know is that both are made for selling online but one provider is more equipped.
Wix E-commerce
As you’ll discover, Wix is the best option for creating an online store.
Wix’s website-building ability goes above simple blogs or affiliate-based websites. You’ll be able to forge an online store and sell up to 50,000 products with 0% fees if we exclude third-party ones of 2.3% + $0.3. Wix’s E-commerce starts with the Core plan at $20/mo.
If you want more e-commerce tools, opt for the Business plan at $29/mo instead.
This plan includes e-commerce essentials, such as:
- Inventory management
- Customizable shipping (weight, location, local pick-up)
- POS (Point of Sale)
- Customer accounts
- Gift cards
- Physical and digital products
- Multi-channel selling
- 80+ payment methods through Wix Payments
- Refunds
- Customer reviews, etc
Wix offers amazing bang for the buck, rivaling even Shopify, which is the largest e-commerce platform overall. We must mention that, unlike Shopify, Wix’s fee model is designed to be sustainable for smaller and mid-sized businesses.
Larger businesses are better off with Shopify, which provides a bit more.
Hostinger E-commerce
Hostinger Website Builder is available in two plans, which we’ll analyze later in the Wix vs Hostinger test. You need to know that the Business plan is the one with e-commerce enabled and that it costs just $3.99/mo with our Hostinger coupon code.
Like Wix, Hostinger has 0% transaction fees, although that’s prone to change when using third-party vendors. Speaking of them, Hostinger offers roughly 100+ of them and their availability depends on the market location. Hostinger’s e-commerce features include:
- Selling up to 500 products
- Email notifications
- Inventory management
- Client appointments and consultations
Unfortunately, Hostinger Website Builder limits you to 500 products (physical/digital), making it viable ONLY for smaller stores. What’s more, its inventory management isn’t as advanced as Wix, and you don’t get POS, multi-channel selling, and other fancy stuff.
The silver lining is that you can install WooCommerce and expand your horizons. However, WooCommerce is a WordPress plugin, so a website designer with Hostinger Website Builder won’t support it. To cut it short, Wix takes the e-commerce round for obvious reasons.
SEO & Marketing Features
Moving on, we need to see which website builder holds better cards in SEO and marketing. We discovered quite a few interesting things in our Wix vs Hostinger 2026 duel, so let’s address them right away.
SEO: Wix vs Hostinger
SEO tools are there on both sides. We love how simple it is to do basic SEO, such as adding images and editing SEO titles, alt tags, and other elementary stuff. Both providers offer comprehensive SEO analysis, where you can see vital website statistics and metrics.

In Wix, we adore the SEO Checklist, which is a brief overview of how to boost your website ranking on Google by completing important SEO tasks. Both providers support some third-party integrations, which can further amplify the experience and take it to another level.
Wix, for example, offers full Google Search Console integration, which allows you to fetch first-hand information about your website. There’s also Semrush, which can be integrated for added data about keywords, website ranking, and other important aspects.

Wix’s App Market lets you expand your SEO capabilities through numerous third-party apps.
Hostinger doesn’t have these apps and its native integrations usually aren’t SEO-oriented, except for Google Analytics, which provides a few valuable bits of data. Again, you can enjoy more SEO tools if you build your website with WordPress but that’s another “world”.
Marketing
Marketing tools can be found on both sides, although Wix is much better here.
It offers built-in email marketing, which lets you send 5,000 free emails monthly. In our Wix vs Hostinger examination, that was more than enough for our smaller online store. As said, the App Store lets you expand this by getting (buying) more marketing-friendly apps.
Another way is to buy a premium plan of Wix email marketing and, for example, send unlimited emails. Wix has a handful of social media tools to help you manage social media channels and improve interactions with your loyal customers. But what about Hostinger?

It’s… well, underwhelming.
Yes, there are third-party marketing tools like WhatsApp, Facebook Pixel, Google AdSense, and much more. However, email marketing isn’t included, so you’ll have to get it separately, and by extension, spend more money. The same goes for social media marketing.
You’ll have to “top up” your Hostinger plan to squeeze the most out of it. As it requires more money and initial effort, it’s clear why Wix is better at both SEO and marketing out of the box. To be clear, tides can turn if you use WordPress but that’s another story.
Boost Your Website Ranking With Wix
In fact, we compared Wix to WordPress here if you’re interested in their differences.
Wix vs Hostinger Price Comparison
Starting a website can be affordable (check out our detailed analysis of website costs) if you make the right choice. The word affordable can be used to describe Hostinger and Wix, as their lukewarm starting prices are suited to everyone’s pocket. Unless you’re a beggar. But since you’re here, you’re likely not.
So, how much does Wix cost?

It starts at $10/mo for the Light plan, which does NOT support e-commerce and is rather bland. Our sweet spot is the Core plan at $20/mo, and if you have a bit more, Business at $29/mo, which gives you everything you need to build all kinds of websites.
The Business Elite is out of most people’s reach, and at $149/mo, it’s more of an upgrade option after your business surges after a while.
So now, let’s examine Hostinger Website Builder and discover its prices:

The provider offers two plans. As you can see above, the Premium Website Builder is cheaper at under $3/mo, while the Business plan is under $4/mo. In both cases, Hostinger seems to be more affordable overall, plus, like Wix, it packs a free domain for a year.
Save Big on Hostinger Website Builder
Which Website Builder Offers Better Value?
But which website builder offers better value, Hostinger or Wix?
That’s very hard to answer, especially because Wix offers more AND costs more. Their values are oddly similar when you think deeply. At under $4/mo, Hostinger is about 60% cheaper than Wix but the question is – is Hostinger 60% WORSE than its competitor?
In our approximation, no. That’s a huge margin.
So, when you consider that Hostinger’s plans are 2-year ones and they have 2 free months plus all of the features we mentioned, it looks like Hostinger is a bit better value. That’s also true for e-commerce, where Wix lets you sell online at $20/mo and Hostinger at ~$4/mo.
You have to pay FIVE times more for Wix, making Hostinger a less costly option.
Which Website Builder Performs Better? (Speed Tests)
The notion of Hostinger’s blazing-fast performance permeated our entire Hostinger vs Wix test. While Wix specializes in website creation, Hostinger’s web hosting background means it’s a bit more oriented toward website performance and overall stability.
In our Hostinger analysis for 2026, we elaborated on its numerous web hosting types.
From shared to VPS and cloud hosting. Still, if you choose its website builder, Hostinger will employ shared hosting; the same as Wix. Both are, however, more than enough for 99% of users, except for those with high demands that call for faster VPS or other hosting types.
Regardless, we want to “prepare” you for the result – Hostinger WILL be faster.
To prove that, we tested Wix vs Hostinger using GTmetrix and its default server in Canada.
Here are the performance results from Wix:

Now, let’s examine Hostinger’s performance results:

So, according to our Wix vs Hostinger speed tests, the results are the following:
| Wix | Hostinger | |
| FCP | 243 ms | 294 ms |
| LCP | 851 ms | 435 ms |
| Speed Index | 905 ms | 480 ms |
| TTI | 2.3 s | 294 ms |
| FLT | 5.2 s | 2.2 s |
Wix had a slightly better First Contentful Paint but that’s negligible. Look at hostinger’s Time to Interactive, which is how long it takes for the page to become functional. Hostinger is roughly EIGHT times faster, which results in a much smoother experience.
By far the biggest difference is FLT or Fully Loaded Time, which describes how long it takes for the website to be fully loaded. At 2.2 seconds, Hostinger is among the speediest web hosts we tested, while Wix’s 5.2 seconds leave a lot to be desired.
As hinted at before, Hostinger Website Builder will produce much faster-loading sites.
Maximize Your Website Speed With Hostinger
Customer Support
Before we stop the rolling ball, let’s perform the Wix vs Hostinger customer support evaluation.
In general, the level of support is outstanding on both sides. You can expect:
- 24/7 live chat support
- Email support
- Knowledge centers,
- FAQs
- Guides, etc.
We love just how accessible the support teams are. When you need help regarding Wix, you’ll first chat with a bot and be transferred to the real agent if you can’t find what you need. The same goes with Hostinger, whose live chat support is among the better ones.
Interestingly, Wix’s help center is a bit better realized, as it contains hundreds, if not thousands of tutorials to sift through. Hostinger’s help center is paramount as well but the overall impression is that it’s just a bit lacking. Though, that makes sense to an extent.
A website builder is far more complicated to use than web hosting, so every nook and cranny must be covered. During our Hostinger Website Builder vs Wix test, the former also contained many website-building tutorials but not as much and in-depth ones as the latter.
Despite these nitpicks, we’d say the level of support is equal. They’re both amazing and ready to tackle your issues at any moment, which is all that matters.
Summary: Pick Wix Over Hostinger Website Builder
Well, well, well, Wix has surely given Hostinger a beating this time.
There’s no better website builder than Wix, so the result is kind of expected. However, we must give Hostinger credit for being so simple to use and ready to handle all your needs. In particular, we love that it has an amazing AI-driven website builder with “professional” tools.
You’ll enjoy e-commerce options, 150+ templates, mobile editing, top-tier performance, a free domain, etc. Wix, however, takes almost from Hostinger, injects a pharmacy of steroids, and makes itself so dominant that neither of its fierce and success-hungry rivals could take it down.
Wix offers six times more templates, more SEO tools, a more capable marketing toolkit, superior website building, and outstanding e-commerce plans for almost limitless selling. This comes at the cost of less impressive but still respectable website performance.
Having won in most rounds of today’s Wix vs Hostinger 2026 duel, it’s clear why it comes on top in the end.
