Bird Skull Jewelery for Ornithological Fashionistas

Marisa Rand has no need for precious stones. That’s because this Calvert County, MD artist crafts her jewelry from the skulls of birds. Morbid? Maybe. Awesome? Definitely.

Her pieces—which include rings, ear rings, and necklaces—aren’t made from the actual skulls themselves, mind you. They’re actually resin copies made from a silicone mold which is shrunken down from the skull’s natural, attached-to-the-bird’s-neck size. Her skulls come from Sparrows, Magpies, Crows, and Parakeets—there’s even a raccoon femur key chain. Prices range from $7 to $20, though her Etsy page is currently having a Dollar Off sale. [Etsy]
