Though right now it's only 1.72 inches, Samsung has created a super-reflective LCD panel that it believes to be three times brighter than any mobile panel being used today. Using silver with high reflectance instead of aluminum, the lens should also improve the rate of the light concentrated in the pixels. But that's not all, folks. With all this, you'd assume there'd be a power increase, but Samsung believes that by combining the super-reflectance technology with transflective (illuminated the screen from front and back) rather than transmissive (illuminated from behind the screen) panel technology, there'll be none of that. Let's hope this means being able to take my laptop to the beach this summer—without sitting myself under an umbrella. Hey, I can always dream.
