Surprise, surprise. Camcorder Info just named their favs for this year, and the best of the best happens to be the Canon Elura 100, a miniDV camera that costs under $400.

Amazing, considering its company had HDD storage systems, HD resolution, and price tags over $4000. How did this happen?

It trumped every challenger, either by virtue of its performance, features, or value.

Excellent. Congratulations to the camera that Caminfo calls the pinnacle of the 10-year old miniDV tech. I still want a more expensive one though, filled with bleeding edge experimental tech that is likely to crap out as I fire it up. Sorry.

My dad's MiniDV Cam is the first MiniDV that Sony ever made, making it about 10 years old. It still runs beautifully. The only problem I have with them is the ridiculous price of MiniDV decks. It's so much easier to edit on a deck, than to have to connect it over FireWire. Oh well. Those were my two cents.
